Campaign aims to collect birth experiences from New Jersey residents
Pennsauken, NJ — February 2025
Nice Media Group is honored to support the Power of NJ Birth Stories initiative with a creative campaign spotlighting maternal health experiences across New Jersey. The campaign features storytelling assets, social media strategy, and branded content that centers Black mothers and birthworkers, continuing Nice’s dedication to narrative equity in public health communications
In partnership with the Power of NJ Birth Stories initiative, Nice Media Group led the creation of a maternal health campaign that centers birthing people’s lived experiences to drive policy and systems change across the state.
Power of NJ Birth Stories is a community-based project that collects, curates, and uplifts the personal birth stories of birthing people in New Jersey. By honoring the storytelling traditions of birthing communities and confronting the inequities of modern maternal care, the initiative aims to reshape how birth stories inform legislation, hospital practices, and public narratives.
Nice Media Group developed a visual and messaging strategy that included custom illustrations, shareable graphics, scripted content, and a short-form video series that invites viewers into the real and diverse stories of childbirth, healing, loss, and triumph. The campaign’s tone strikes a balance between reverent and radical—acknowledging historical harm while celebrating resistance, joy, and vision.
“Storytelling is a tool for transformation,” said Carmen Smith, CEO of Nice Media Group. “With Power of Birth Stories, we aimed for more than awareness. We aimed for awakening—inside institutions, across communities, and within the mothers themselves.”
The campaign has been widely shared by community health organizations, doulas, state health advocates, and partners advancing maternal health equity in New Jersey.
